Drinking Water-Compliant Components
Clean drinking water of high hygienic quality is extremely valuable—both at home and while traveling. The German Drinking Water Ordinance, monitored by the Federal Environment Agency (UBA), plays a key role in this regard.
Drinking water must be free from disease-causing microorganisms. When providing drinking water, all elements through which the water passes must be compliant with drinking water standards—whether it's hoses, couplings, adapters, water filters, or taps.
Strict regulations issued by the UBA govern the use of plastics and other organic materials that come into contact with drinking water. These rules also apply to temporary supplies, such as those used in motorhomes and caravans during travel.
Filling Hose
The hose used to fill the fresh water tank in a motorhome or caravan—along with its couplings—should also be suitable for drinking water. Drinking water-safe hoses can be identified by the DVGW certification mark printed on them. All GEKA® plus couplings are certified for drinking water use and bear the DVGW seal.
It’s highly advisable to carry your own hose during RV trips to refill the fresh water tank while on the road. Unfortunately, it is widely known that some irresponsible campers misuse public filling hoses at water stations to clean their toilet cassettes.
Even though most motorhomes carry a large supply of fresh water, it’s often still necessary to refill—especially if you want to enjoy the convenience of running water on board.
Filling Filter
Filling filters clean the water as it flows into the tank. The bluuwater water filter can be used for this as well—one filter, two functions. This saves both weight and cost.
The bluuwater filter can be used as a pre-filter during filling and also as an in-line filter between the fresh water tank and the water outlets—completely chemical-free.
